10) A short inspirational story from their life. As an example, here’s one from mine
I was about 11 and had been progressing pretty well with swimming lessons at school. One day, the teacher announced her assessment of who should take the next respective swimming exams. She announced that a friend of mine and a particular girl were the only two ready to take the stage 2 swimming exam. I was disappointed that she didn’t think that I was ready but said nothing to her, only something in passing to my friend. He wasted no time in asking the teacher “don’t you think Frank’s ready”. She replied “he’s close but I don’t believe he’s ready just yet.”
My friend would need his pyjamas to do the exam and asked for permission to go and get them from home with me accompanying him. Teacher gave us permission. We’d picked up his pyjamas and were walking near to my house and he said “Frank, go and get your pyjamas”. I said “I can’t, she said that I’m not ready”. “But YOU know you’re ready, go and get them”.
We arrived at school and I, apologising for my boldness, told the teacher that I had also picked up my pyjamas as I believed that I was ready for the exam. She had a think and then said “ok, seeing as you’re so determined”.
We did the stage 2 exam that day. Only I passed.
I learned so many lessons that day regards others belief in you and your own self belief.
